Erkut Onart was born in Edremit, Turkey. He graduated from Galatasaray High School in Istanbul and earned his undergraduate degree from the Political Sciences Faculty of the University of Ankara . After completing his graduate studies at the University of Nancy in France and John Hopkins University in Italy , he joined the Turkish diplomatic corps in 1964. He served in the United Nations Headquarters in New York as well as Accra, Tabriz, Luxembourg, Manama, Geneva and Rotterdam.
After retiring in 2002, he dedicated his time to his many passions, especially photography and traveling - both hobbies he is pursuing since his teen years.
When asked about the secret of his positive approach to life, he likes to answer that he had banished the words "tired" and "bored" from his vocabulary.
Erkut Onart’s photography depicts the beauties of nature, the colors of diverse cultures and the details of everyday life. He has held many exhibits all over the globe, including major cities in Turkey as well as the Netherlands, Geneva, Luxembourg, Vilnius, Beirut, Aleppo, Rhodes, Batum, Odessa, Minsk and of course Pakistan.
The exhibition " Turkey and Pakistan - two nations bonded by faith, culture and brotherhood " is his third in Pakistan. The exhibition which will showcase many photographies from both countries will be held in the Alliance Française in Karachi between 17-21 May 2017 in the framework of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the two countries.
