Karachi Biennale will announce the 10 finalists for
the KB17 Emerging Artists PecaKuca Intensive
on Saturday July 29, 2017 at 5 pm.
The venue is Mahvesh And Jehangir Siddiqui Gallery @Alliance Française, Karachi.
On this occasion shortlisted participants will get certificates and a glimpse of what to expect at the PecaKucha Intensive in October will be shared.
PecaKuca is a challenging format based on 20 slides with only 20 seconds to talk about each slide that requires the presenter to articulate ideas within a tight time frame. It has gained popularity all over the world because of concise communication that suits the sensibility of the technological era. Karachi Biennale is introducing it in Pakistan on this scale, for the first time.
The finalists will be selected by a jury of art critics from submissions by artists under 35 years of age, from big and small towns of Pakistan.
A day-long workshop will be held on July 28, 2017 for the participants so they can work with mentors to polish their skills before the final selection on July 29, 2017.
This project aims to help emerging artists to reflect on their practice and communicate ideas with coherence and confidence in Urdu or English.
This project is being held in collaboration with Alliance Francaise Karachi.
