On 11 October, the International Day of the Girl, we are pleased to invite you to the launch of Alliance française de Karachi's beloved French student and accomplished artist Syeda Alishba Amin-ud-Din's digital art studio.
Alishba Amin-ud-Din is an artist and a painter focusing mostly on abstract expressionism. Alishba, who has Down syndrome, is very active: she is an engaged student, loves learning French, and enjoys yoga, baking, music, travelling, and reading.
Her first solo art exhibition was held in March 2018 at the Alliance Française de Karachi art gallery. Later that year, The Feminist Library in London exhibited her art work. In January 2019, Alishba was invited to attend the Artrooms Fair in London as a guest artist. She also exhibited her work in London's Zari Gallery in a solo exhibition that ran for two weeks in May 2019 and was subsequently invited to the British Parliament by Britain's Shadow Justice Minister, Barrister Imran Hussain.
As an international visual artist with unique abilities, Alishba's art raises awareness about social issues, particularly highlighting the challenges of girls with disabilities and about environmental challenges.
On this special occasion of the International Day of the Girl, Alishba aims to set an example for other girls to become economically independent, reach their full potential, and go beyond societal limitations.
